Christmas Favourites – Blogmas Day 3

22 days until Christmas!

I can’t believe in a few weeks time, Christmas will be here. This year has flown by so quickly and it felt like only yesterday that it was last Christmas. I’m busy making the last of my Christmas gift preparations and feeling super Christmassy because some of the decorations are up and the tree will be up sometime in the next few days.

Now, if you like this time of the year, you probably have Christmas favourites like me. And if you like to be prepared and organised, you’ve probably already got your advent calendar and had your first few chocolates. I certainly have and it’s definitely one of my favourites at Christmas. Back in November, I brought myself and my brother each a Lindt advent calendar and it’s delicious. I was also lucky enough to find a vegan chocolate calendar that I’ve been wanting to try and I’m very much enjoying it. To be honest, I’d happily have an advent calendar all year if I could and I’m going to make sure I have a calendar every year no matter my age. Who ever said you’re too old to have an advent calendar?

Every year, I make sure I have a calendar ready because I’ve got to have my little chocolate each day and I don’t think there is any better way to countdown to Christmas than with a sweet treat when I wake up every morning.

At this time of year, another favourite is a Christmas movie. There are tons of Christmas movies to watch but I’ve always had a particular love for those I grew up watching as a child. I can’t choose just one but The Grinch is definitely one of my favourites. It is so funny and Jim Carrey plays the Grinch perfectly. (Plus, does anyone else feel like they are very similar to the Grinch as an adult?) I couldn’t imagine anyone else ever playing him and I’ve always tried to make it the first Christmas film I watch in December.

The Santa Clause movies are another favourite because they are so magical. At one point, I’m pretty sure I wished for my dad to be Santa like Charlie’s dad is and although it didn’t happen, I get excited whenever I see it on TV. I feel as excited watching all three movies as I did as a child and it’s a feeling I’d like to hold onto forever.

The final Christmas movie I also love is Miracle on 34th Street. Now, if you haven’t watched this film then I suggest you do right away. This film is different to the others I have suggested because it has the best scene ever. New York’s people coming together to show how much they believe in Cris Cringle. It shows that even though we as adults may not believe in Santa, we aren’t willing to let that dream disappear for our children.

Now, hot chocolate is a must have favourite of mine for Christmas even if I do also drink it all year round. There’s something about having hot chocolate at Christmas with cream and marshmallows that make it so appealing. A lot of coffee shops have been doing festive menus and the ones I tend to have most is Costa’s gingerbread hot chocolate and Café Nero’s salted caramel (If they are still doing it. I have yet to have a hot chocolate from Café Nero this year!) and I have both with cream and marshmallows. It’s so warming and delicious and I can’t get enough of all the festive drinks. I’m hoping to try a few more different flavours so if you have a favourite, let me know.

Christmas Jumpers are a must have at Christmas for me. I love showing my love for Christmas and what better way to do it than wearing a Christmas jumper. Currently, I own two Christmas jumpers and although I wish I owned more, the question of would I actually wear all of them always sticks in my mind when browsing the Christmas clothing section. Besides, my two Christmas jumpers are pretty cool anyway. One of them makes it look like I’m one of Santa’s Elves when I wear it but I absolutely love it so I’m going to wear the hell out of it. What else am I suppose to do with a Christmas Jumper?

And my final Christmas favourite is a Christmas tree. Whether it’s the one we have in the sitting room or the small one I have in my bedroom, nothing feels more magical than having a tree in your house, decorated in sparkly lights and your favourite decorations. I know not everyone is able to have a tree and I really wish I could go around every house and give them a tree. But I also think that seeing the Christmas trees in the shop windows and streets always provides a Christmas element to what would otherwise be a gloomy winter’s day and it puts a smile on peoples’ faces. Seeing a Christmas tree at this time of year is my ultimate favourite Christmas thing.

Advent calendars are some of the best things created or I think so anyway! The Grinch has become a Christmas tradition for me too especially if I watch it with family ☺️

It’s such a wonderful film to watch and I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched it on Christmas Eve but that sounds like I may have to do it this year if my family will join me. And thank you! X

Christmas is my favourite too. I’d happily live in Christmas land if I could. It’s a fabulous film and you should totally give it a rewatch. Xx

All three are great movies. I only ever watched Jingle All the Way a few times but I’ll have to try and watch it again this year as I remember it being a good film!

  2. Gotta Love your Christmas favourites. I would say you missed Home alone and die hard in the movies, but that’s all opinion. Your Christmas jumper sounds the great. I would say my dad is the Grinch he never wants to put up a Christmas tree and isn’t a fan in general, but hey we all have our crosses to bear. Thanks for sharing. John

I would definitely put Home Alone and Die Hard on that list too but I wanted to keep it to my top fave three films. They are just as good though and I do watch them every year too. It’s a fab jumper and I got a lot of comments on it last Christmas at work. It only cost me about £10! My dad is the same but I think it’s because his Christmas’ were never very good as a kid so he never really like Christmas but I think he enjoys seeing me and my brother get excited for it each year!

      1. You could be right about Christmas not being a big thing for dads. Mine grew up in the 40s and he said he would be lucky to get a banana. Maybe he was exaggerating but either way it probably wasn’t the best.

  3. I love hot chocolate! It’s my go-to warm drink as I’m not a massive fan of tea or coffee. Now that I’m older I also enjoy it with a cheeky but of Bailey’s 😉 Happy holidays!

Thank you. I’m really happy that you liked it. You’ll have to try it. It’s really nice as there isn’t a lot of gingerbread that it becomes sickly but there is enough in there for it to be nice and warming ☺️

I love those too. My godmother used to get me one every year and although I enjoyed the chocolate ones more as a kid, I do love the cardboard ones a lot more now especially as I love admiring the drawings and designs of them. I’ve always wanted to make one of my own completely from scratch with my own syrups etc and I do love hot chocolate a lot too! Thanks for reading xx

A great Blogmas post! I’ve got a Godiva advent calendar on the way, but it hasn’t arrived yet so no mini chocolate treats for me yet, but that just means more for me when it arrives! My blogmas post for today was on festive films – festive films and Christmas songs are my absolute favourite elements of Christmas ❤
